Mucche Nel Futuro

Sembra che le mucche
mangino la luna
nelle sere di giugno
l’odore un po’ pungente
del fieno mietuto.
Se le guardi bene
sono loro
gli animali del futuro
le coraggiose vacche
perché
è nella gentilezza
che si nasconde
il seme del coraggio.
Non ci sarà più nessuno
fermo
nella ruota
del criceto.
Sarà tempo
di masticare lenti
il presente
respirando forte
il profumo degli oleandri
e del pitosforo in fiore.

Cows of the Future

It looks like the cows
might be eating the moon
on June evenings
the smell slightly pungent
from the cut hay.
if you look at them carefully
they are
the animals of the future
the brave cows
because
it’s in kindness
that the seeds of courage
are hidden.
There will be no one left
caught
in the wheel  
of the hamster 
It will be time
to chew slowly
the present 
breathing hard
the scent of oleanders
and pittosporum in bloom.
