Mike Maggio has published fiction, poetry, reviews and Arabic translations in journals and anthologies in the United States and abroad. His work has appeared in such places as Phoebe, Apalachee Quarterly, Atticus Review, Potomac Review, Pleaides, Black Bear Review, The Arabesques Review, Pig Iron , Washington Independent Review of Books and many others. His work has also been antholozied in such publications as For a Living: The Poetry of Work and Before There Is Nowhere to Stand: Palestine | Israel: Poets Respond to the Struggle.
He is the author of Your Secret Is Safe With Me, an audio collection of poems (Black Bear Publications), Oranges From Palestine (and other poems) (Mardi Gras Press), two collections of short fiction, Sifting Through the Madness (Xlibris) and The Keepers (March Street Press) and a full-length collection of poetry,deMockracy (Plain View Press), a hard-hitting, poetic critique of the Bush administration and its cavalier and unjustified attack on Iraq and on the democratic institutions here at home in America. He has also published a full length novel, The Wizard and the White House, and a novella, The Appointment.
Currently, he is the Northern Regional Vice-President for the Poetry Society of Virginia. He is also an associate-editor at Potomac Review and recently served as a judge for the Oregon Poetry Association’s annual poetry contest. He has also appeared on many radio programs including The Radio Hotline with Dennis Price and Grace Cavalieri’s The Poet and the Poem and was a guest on Sistah Joy Alford’s Sojourn with Words, broadcast on CTV.
Mike is available for events, workshops and appearances at poetry festivals and other gatherings . He also provides editing services for those who are interested in having their work reviewed and prepared for publication. He provides both individual and group workshops in poetry and fiction including online, though he prefers face to face instruction.
