ora esco…
Nessuno per strada
vetrine accecate
scoppiato il tombino
e pioggia battente, al mattino
davanti al Caffè
il Primo Gennaio
del Sessantatre.

yesterday’s paper

The phone is so silent
the coffee’s now finished
the dirty bed linens
(I don’t like laundry)
the wind is a whistle
the phonograph off
the weather
(cool-jazz)
I think I shall go…
Noone in the street
the shop windows blind
the manhole exploded
and showering rain in the morning
outside the Café
on January 1st
