Michelle O’Hearn

Come Together in a Solidarity Run

 Enchanted.
Hypnotized with demise and astray with decay,
the screaming lay bleeding at the grabbing urgency
to run in protest of a disturbing uptick in anti-Asian hate.
 A broken peaceful future.
The anger and fear it magnified to rival a different experience
of fleeing COVID-19 pandemic bodies in piles,
             grabbing for survival.
Coming together in a solidarity run across the country
to learn more about good in the AAPI communities.
 Keep going, keep going.
As the beast eats its prey,
             the misperception is deception
 but our legs aren’t broken.
Someone is hunting the future of play
yet the spirit of our children isn’t broken
 Come together,
 All groups.
We come together to run days and miles
to bring back the lost from the lies in disguise.
