Welcome to the 30 for 30 Celebration of Poets

Hello everyone and welcome to National Poetry Month and the second annual 30 for 30 celebration of poets. This year’s poets include a host of individuals from all over the country, from Maine to Wisconsin, from Washington DC to California. Our international participant this year is from Pakistan, and we also pleased to have a poet who is a student at James Madison University. The month will culminate with a very special event. In conjunction with Herndon Middle School, a contest is being held, and three young poets will be selected to present their poems to us on April 30.

All poems published on my web site will be tweeted and facebooked throughout the month. At the end of the month, everyone will be invited to vote for their favorite poem, and the poet with the most votes will receive a signed copy of my new collection Garden of Rain (Le Jardin de Pluie) due out in May.

And on May 12, 30 for 30 will be featured on The Radio Hotline with Dennis Price, aired on Fairfax Public Radio and streamed across the internet.

We begin the month with a poem by Marianne Szlyk whose poem last year, “All About Rosie” garnered the most votes.

So follow us daily and enjoy! A splendid time is guaranteed for all!
