Love, Not Alexa
Love, if you were like Alexa
I could turn you on
as easily
as pressing a button
whispering into your ear
press another button
to change channels
when intimacy became too much
to bear
or press pause
from the ceaseless inundation
of “liking” having a “visible presence”
informing faceless others
about our fabulous family vacations
in the Maldives
or photos of our fluffy cats.
Luckily, you’re not like Alexa.
While I know how to press
your buttons
turn you on
you will whisper in my ear
make me take
a delightful pause.

What a direct and appealing sentiment!
Here’s to non-Alexa love that can still “make me take a delightful pause.” Thanks for sharing.
