Back in the 1980’s, when I was part of the growing poetry scene in LA, reading and performing in places like The Water Cafe and the Lhasa Club, I had the pleasure of knowing poets and performers like Scott Whitman (aka Scott Lawrence), S.A. Griffin, Mike Mollet, Michael Bruner and Doug Knott, among others. The punk scene was going strong and poets and musicians co-mingled and more than often inspired each other.
A few days ago, Doug Knott contacted me about a poetry video he recently did, and he sent me a link. Directed by Joe Culp, this short film delves into the throbbing belly of Hollywood and is interesting from both a poetic/storytelling point of view as well as a cinematic one.
And by the way, just in case you’re asked for a password when you launch the link, it is sunset.
Enjoy.
