Robert P. Arthur is the current President of The Poetry Society of Virginia. He has published over twenty books of poems, plays,and poem/plays, as well as fiction,and over 1000 critical reviews and articles on the arts. His Hymn to the Chesapeake (poetry) was performed as a musical play in Virginia, Maryland, Washington, New York, and St. Petersburg, Russia and was the best-selling book in the history of Road Publishers.
Arthur is a Writer-in-low residence at Wilkes University and was a finalist for Poet Laureate of Virginia in 2008 and 2010. He lives in Virginia Beach and on the Easter Shore.
