Sugar, Spite (Original Version) Cut out sugar, spite. Choose ingredients carefully. Mix in true friends— a good egg or two. Pepper, optional. Season just right—for you. Blend with a rounded teaspoon of doubt. Stir in levity. Allow spirit to rise from within. Cut out sugar, spite. Select love, warmed. Heap in kindness. Add a few grains of salt a hint of vulnerability a measure of courage a pinch of wild heart to an ounce of cream and a dollop of honey. Whip to soft peaks. Fold into life. © Joy Martin 2020 Distilled (Re(En)Visioned) Stir in levity a few warmed grains of kindness Wild heart rise within © Joy Martin 2020

I like both your poems, Joy. I missed the dollop (such a great word) in the re(en)vision, but a brave paring down.
