Re(En)Vision Day 22: Anne Woodworth

 The Sound of Poetry
(Original Version)

Sounds are all I have still,
sounds that drift unheard
on frequencies in air. Sometimes
I put my sounds into a microphone,
amplify being ambition, albeit
in an absence of current. Sometimes
I leave them out there soundless
on paper, unnoticed for their hard labor,
which is all they know how to do.

Trying to Be Heard
(Re(En)Visioned)

Sometimes they leave
their sounds out there.
How unnoticed my absence.
Being still, I do drift on sounds,
albeit soundless in an air,
which is all I amplify on,
hard current frequencies
that are all I put in-
to a microphone for sounds.

Anne Harding Woodworth is the  author of a sixth book of poetry, The Eyes Have It, with a seventh, Trouble, coming in late 2020.
