Easter in the cherry tree woods again—my seventieth spring!
Such greens; such light, last blossoms. Such snowdrift pools and shadows.

Derek Kannemeyer is a recently retired high school teacher whose writing has appeared in dozens of online and print publications, from Rattapallax and Smartish Pace to Fiction International and Rolling Stone. His 2018-19 publications include a light verse collection, a chapbook (winner of the inaugural Blue Nib chapbook contest), and about 25 individual pieces in a wide range of journals and anthologies. He grew up in England (though not Shropshire) and lives in Richmond, VA.

      Joan, you’ve been so good about not just reading these poems (I’ve been doing that too!) but commenting. Now that it’s my day to share a piece, I see how encouraging that is, to let the writers know someone is looking. I liked your piece too!
