moonflower’s lemon breath gentles the garden sleepily
fat skunk waddles from night shadows indifferent

Lyman Grant lives in Harrisonburg, Virginia.  He is the author of five books of poems, most recently Old Men on Tuesday Mornings (Alamo Bay Press,  2017).  A new book, 2018: Found Poems and Weather Reports, will be published this fall, also by Alamo Bay Press. “Predawn” is a golden shovel poem based on a line by William Carlos Williams.
