June Goodenough

Overcome Exalting Joy – Laugh at Myself

cockroach in a wastebasket deep shadows cast, all strife and pain -
competing against professional obsessives as long as you believe.
how clever Mr. Snuggles was as evening (occasionally) lost the plot
to have recovered from this aberration, head high, with no fear.

walk bravely into the unknown a grim-faced robot
parked on a lonely hillside where Light can reign -
pay the costs of the monomania, choice but Shadows.
exceed all expectations and go fishing.

Author’s Statement

My words were chosen from places three: a narrative equestrian, a free verse old near 50 years, and a poem rhymed on Dark and Light.  I plucked from each the words that spoke and took them all in-hand.  Narrative phrases my warp became and throughout I wove a weft of encouraging verse and illuminating poem threads.  It might, at last, make you smile.
