Love in the Age of Alexa
When Alexa dies
Will I bury her in the backyard like a loved cat?
Or will I put her on the mantelpiece
Like an urn with ancestral ashes?
Does she deserve an Alexa-shaped headstone?
Would I shelve her in a closet with other used electronics?
Or toss her in the recycling bin,
Thinking that’s just her body, not her soul?
Will I hang her pictures on the wall?
Or will she end like some trusted caretaker,
Passed on to someone
Who needs her, even if obsolete?
And what will she do when I die?
Continue with my next of kin,
Taking over my house
And on my will, write herself in?

Hey, she’s got all the answers. Ask her. Nice poem.
Wonderful..When I was a child I buried a broken record of “Deep Purple” in a shoe box..This is evocative.Thank you.

Dennis, Alexa won’t die..she’ll just become comma toes
There is so much to be considered in these new relationships we form and then dissolve (or recycle) in this “…Age of Alexa”. Thanks for sharing.
